This is a very bad picture of my handbag today. It is a very old and worn Manhattan Portage messenger bag bought when I lived in NYC. It's not a very pretty bag, but it is very comfortable. Great for when I walk around London, as I did today.
The contents of my bag are as follows:
Wallet
Ipod
Sunglasses (Ever the optimist, I live in London)
Book (Uncommon Arrangements by Katie Roiphe)
Diary (I still carry a filofax, I can't get rid of my paper diary)
Business Cards
Johnson's "Melt Away Stress" body lotion
Oyster Card (for London Public Transport)
House Keys
Memory Stick
Blackberry
This is my smallest of handbags so what you see in the list above is the bare minimum I carry with me. I could never carry any less than this. The above items are absolutely essential!!!

Hi Kate,
You are quite a heavy traveler, if this is your 'light version'.
I am quite interested to find out more about your Johnson anti-stress lotion. What does it do and why is it in your survival bag.
What I also would ask you to do is dig a bit deeper in your purse. What's there and wbhat can it tell us about you?
Yes, I have always been one for big bags and seem to "need" lots of stuff with me -- it's good to be prepared for any eventuality!
Johnson's Anti-Stress Lotion was picked up at Fieldwork Denver when i was recently running 8 depths and 4 groups in the space of 2 days. They had it in their goodie basket in the back room. Combining Denver's hot, dry climate with my stresslevels meant that I needed this lotion more than ever. Back in London, I have just kept it in my bag -- just in case!
I will answer your last question in my next post!!!
